Volunteer River Counties

Developed from a partnership between Serve Virginia, the Virginia Service Foundation, and the River Counties Community Foundation (RCCF), Volunteer River Counties connects individuals and groups in Virginia’s Lancaster, Middlesex and Northumberland Counties with regional volunteer opportunities.

Because this organization is spearheaded by Serve Virginia, DCH was asked to create a sub-brand that took inspiration from Serve Virginia’s cardinal logo and color palette but was also unique enough to represent the culture and history of this close-knit region.

As sailing requires a team working together to navigate the seas, the logomark represents the coalition of non-profit agencies who work together to help engage volunteers and connect them with civic opportunities. The accompanying icon pattern showcases elements of volunteerism, the river landscape, and nods to the Native American and African American communities so important to the region’s history.
